His studio album "Take Me As I Am" released in 2017 but he continues to perform live music.

Cross achieved a historic victory at the 1981 Grammy Awards when he won five awards which included Record of the Year and Song of the Year and Album of the Year and Best New Artist. He won an Academy Award for Best Original Song through his work on "Arthur's Theme" during 1981.
