The Philadelphia Orchestra is one of the greatest and most respected American orchestras in existence. Created in 1900, the Philadelphia Orchestra is a Grammy Award winner and continues to be a model for the many other young American orchestras. It is known for its innovative recordings of film scores, which makes The Lion King a perfect film for this famous Orchestra to perform live. All of the songs from the film will be performed live by the Philadelphia Orchestra, including the Academy Award-nominated score by Hans Zimmer for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, and other songs such as “This Land”. For many years the Philadelphia Orchestra was considered to be at the top of their field. They were the first American orchestra to perform in China in 1973.
